Is there something wrong with some adults that watch Disney and/or cartoons? I know at least three people in their early 20s that likes to watch Disney channel shows and cartoons like avatar, FairyOddParents ect.
Are they immature or what? |
I think it's mature to not allow age to limit activities you enjoy, particularly in the face of possible rejection from your peers. While I can't speak for avatar fans, I have found myself enjoying Fairly oddparents, as well as cartoons like spongebob and Jimmy Newtron. I find that these shows are very well made and intelligent, and offer "something for everyone", they appeal as much to parents as guyren. Besides, if some adults didn't enjoy cartoons, who do you think would make them to entertain your guyren?
Edit: I love Pinky and the Brain, some of that stuff on the animaniacs cartoons would have been WAY over a guy's head. So just because it's animated, doesn't mean it's not for adults. |
Adult theme in the disney cartoon classic's? I've heard two people tell me that there are adult theme's in these movies, is it true that they each have an adult theme to them? |
I dont know about adult themes...but there are things like hidden messages and stuff in the movies. DIsney re-edited the movies. so you would only see these on a VHS tape.
check out the website. maybe this is what your talking about

It's not an Adult Swim Anime.
Don't even start. Adult Swim had very high standards. Ever hear of Cowboy Bebop? Yu Yu Hakusho? Tenchi Muyo?
Those are adult swim Animes.
And no. Now that Disney has their teeth in it, they're not letting go. |
Is it "wrong" for single adult males to watch various cartoons and anime? cartoons like: hans christian andersens "actual" version of the little mermaid, not the disney version
and a family oriented cartoon/movies like the last unicorn and/or fern gully
or titles like who framed roger rabbit "half live action/ half cartoon"
or anime titles like: inuyasha, dragon ball z, cowboy bebop, outlaw star, vampire hunter d
these are all things that i have watched and have enjoyed to watch at times |
Wrong is when you hurt someone. Wrong is when you go against your principles. Wrong is even when you break the law.
Watching cartoons and anime is NOT WRONG.
Good news, right? Life is too short to worry about what others think. If it brings you pleasure and renews your inner guy’s spirit, then enjoy yourself! I know several adult males (some single, some married) who watch anime, Disney movies, and such. They are happy, well-adjusted people.
And there are plenty of women out there who will value your guy-like enthusiasm and artistic taste (especially when it comes to anime!), plus a lot of these movies/stories have some cultural significance that’s very intriguing.
...and by the way, I sure wouldn’t want a guy watching most anime. They were written for adults!
So enjoy!
Oh, and I think that your concerns about being "wrong" mean that you should seek out other adults like you - try visting some local Comic Conventions or SciFi Conventions. You'll meet lots of other people who have the same interests with you! And though a few of them are strrrrange, none of them are wrong. |
Remember when Disney Channel had actual cartoons? I do. Those were good days. Even now that I'm an adult I would love to see some old school Disney ever now and then.
The greatest question that has plagued man kind for the past ten years is...WHERE THE HELL IS MICKEY MOUSE?! |
Donald was always my favorite. Actually, I think I married him (either that or he's grumpy smurf).
I bought the donald duck box set. Love it, so do my guys. I don't even let them watch the Disney channel. It sucks. |
How to watch cartoons as an adult? I know this seems like an odd question, but I used to love watching disney movies as a guy. Now that I'm grown up, I find myself bored within 15 minutes. How can I learn to think like a guy again? I really want to enjoy watching cartoons like I used to! |
| Now that you're an adult you can appreciate Disney movies on a new level. Buy one of the Platinum Editions that have bonus features for adults. Look for the ones that have a Backstage Disney section with deleted scenes, "the making of" features, and things like that. They are really interesting. Once you've watched these features, you'll look at the movie in a new way, paying attention to the things you learned from the special features. It's inspiring. Definitely give this a try. |
